As the Director of Administration at Latham, you will function as a business partner to the Office Managing Partner, contributing to the strategic planning and implementation of goals and objectives for the Boston office (“the Office”). You will provide direction, guidance, and advice to all administrators, managers, supervisors, attorneys, and staff regarding the general business operations of the Firm and the Office. The Director of Administration will develop and supervise the Office staff by performing a multitude of responsibilities related to the following functional areas: accounting/finance, human resources, marketing/business development, research/library, technology, facilities/operations, secretaries, litigation services, and the administrative components of the Firm’s Committees.  The Director of Administration will also serve as a business partner to global departments. As the Director of Administration, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Director of Administration must have strong management skills in finance, human resources, operations/facilities, technology/information services, attorney relations, change initiatives, and strategic planning.  Excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving and decision-making) necessary for effective management and well-developed and professional interpersonal skills are desired, including the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm.  The Director must display strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to draft, review, and negotiate contracts or other communications as needed.  The Director of Administration must possess the ability to work in and foster a team environment with a customer service focus while developing extensive knowledge of firm procedures, policies, and practices.  The ability to demonstrate creative thinking while providing strategic support to senior management is desired. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business or a related field is required. A JD, MBA, or related Master's degree or equivalent is preferred.  A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible office management experience in legal or a professional services environment is desired.
