The Knowledge Management Lawyer - US Data & Technology Transactions will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Knowledge Management Lawyer - US Data & Technology Transactions at Latham, you will be responsible for managing the creation, organization and delivery of knowledge assets to the Data and Technology Transactions Group (DTT), supporting attorneys to work efficiently helping them to avoid situations where they are “re-inventing the wheel”.
The Knowledge Management Lawyer will take the lead on the creation of substantive knowledge assets and will support the delivery of a broader portfolio of knowledge management services including; the collation and organization of precedent, the provision of regular current awareness (monitoring of legal and regulatory developments), the coordination and delivery of training, and the handling of legal research and enquiries
The Knowledge Management Lawyer will be expected to leverage attorney engagement, in order to create high caliber resources and to bring market experience to the knowledge assets being produced.
The DTT practice is often called upon by clients to draft a wide variety of commercial agreements under challenging timelines or with limited budgets. This work is integral to staying “sticky” with clients, by being embedded in their operational needs. Having a Knowledge Management Lawyer that can manage and constantly update such form agreements is integral to allowing DTT attorneys to work efficiently and quickly, and help them to avoid situations where they are “re-inventing the wheel”. Subject to the needs of the Department or Practice Group, the Knowledge Management Lawyer may also take responsibility for thought leadership activities. The Knowledge Management Lawyer is not client-facing, although may have direct contact with clients from time to time to assist in business development efforts (as appropriate). As a US Data & Technology Transactions Knowledge Management Lawyer, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful US Data & Technology Transactions Knowledge Management Lawyer must have an extensive knowledge of legal documents and legal practice in a particular practice area. The ideal candidate has a superior ability to solve problems and roadblocks relating to both technical issues and situations involving the coordination of attorneys, non-attorney staff, and different administrative departments. You must have advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, and a knowledge of Internet and Intranet functionality.
High customer service skills and the ability to promptly respond to incoming requests and is professional with all patrons are required. You must possess the ability to work independently on projects of significant complexity, have well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm. The US Data & Technology Transactions Knowledge Management must have good time management, be able to prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines. Also, being able to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion is required for the role.
A J.D. Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree is required, with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant law firm experience as a practicing attorney in intellectual property and technology transactions and data privacy.
