    Job Description

    Distribution Center Manager is responsible for the day to day execution of the warehouse activities supporting multiple businesses, product lines and customers. Establishes departmental short/long term goals and KPI’s to measure performance compared to corporate objectives. Responsible for leadership and development of warehouse personnel and operations as well as ensuring inventory and supply accuracy.  

     

    SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

    • Define and develop departmental budget(s) for warehouse department and manage expenses to meet requirements. Monitor, identify, and assist with the correction of departmental/company issues that impact objectives and budget
    • Manage warehouse resources, process flow and priorities, with an emphasis on improvement of efficiencies and quality, to ensure inventory accuracy and timely delivery of products to customers. 
    • Create work instructions to document department activities and support regulatory requirements.  Reviews established work instructions and updates as needed to reflect current process.
    • Manage communication with department leads and internal/external customers.  
    • Maintain warehouse inventory accuracy per established objectives.  Establishes and conducts routine cycle count and physical inventories as required by established policies, procedures and corporate objectives.  Researches inventory variance root causes and leads efforts to correct processes.
    • Work closely with the Accounting Department to ensure ERP systems and reporting adequately supports departmental activities. 
    • Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; drafting, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures, monitoring equipment utilization, inventory management and shipping activities.
    • Determines warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process workflow, manpower, space requirements, equipment capability/layout.
    • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
    • Manages timely order of supplies to support inventory storage/shipment.
    • Fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
    • Train, guide and evaluate new warehouse workers.  Document training activates per ISO plan.
    • Ensure that warehouse equipment is repaired and adequately maintained to minimize downtime.
    • Capable of lifting 50lbs unassisted
    • Additional duties as assigned

    SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Commercial Driver’s License
    • Forklift Operation Certification
    • Ability to work weekends or nights
    • Ability to manage inventory
    • Ability to work cross divisionally
    • Self-motivated with a result driven approach
    • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
    • Detailed oriented individual with high energy level
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skill sets
    • Excellent communication skills oral and written
    • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize ongoing projects
    • Experience utilizing Warehouse Management systems and/or ERP Systems, Navision a plus.
    • Thorough understanding of distribution function and associated financial aspects.
    • Experience with international shipping requirements to support import/export of products.
    • Microsoft Suite – advanced skills in Excel
    • Ability to work in a fast pace environment

     

    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • BS in Business Administration, Logistics, or relevant fields– preferred but not required
    • Previous experience working in an ISO or FDA regulated environment preferred but not required.
    • 5 or more years’ experience in Warehouse Operations/Inventory Manager or similar role
    • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management, preferred
    • Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred but not required
