  • Responsibilities

    Offit Kurman, a fast-growing full-service law firm, is seeking to hire a Paralegal in the Washington, D.C. area. The role will have a hybrid work schedule and candidates will be required to go to the DC Courts, as needed.

    Ideal candidates will possess 5+ years of experience working as a Paralegal supporting Landlord/Tenant and Commercial Litigation practices. The Paralegal will assist during all phases of the litigation process, from investigating claims, initiation of a case, discovery, and through trial.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and organize the intake of discovery-related requests and documents.
    • Organize and maintain physical and electronic files and databases.
    • Prepare and draft a variety of discovery-related documents and other legal documents.
    • Maintain detailed and well-organized discovery docket.
    • Communicate effectively with court clerk offices, clients, and attorneys via phone and email.
    • Conduct legal research, including determining proper legal parties to lawsuits and statuses of cases with courts.
    • Transcribe attorney's dictation accurately.
    • Review and summarize documents and transcripts.
    • Manage case scheduling and attorney calendars.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 5 years' experience supporting a litigation practice; landlord/tenant experience preferred.
    • Excellent organizational skills and prior experience maintaining detailed dockets and databases.
    • Experience performing independent research and working with various research tools.
    • Ability to expertly manage and prioritize a high volume of deadline driven work.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of Civil Judicial Council Forms.
    • Knowledge of County and State Courts with Federal, preferred.
