Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To " section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise. The Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB) is seeking applicants for a position that will promote IDB's mission, vision and values through supporting the Adult Orientation Center, Education and Training, and Business Enterprise programs. Duties and responsibilities to include the following: Reads printed material including computer screens, serial numbers, and other text for blind staff. Assists in preparation of vending facility inventories, receives and organizes monthly vendor reports, files federal reports for BEP program. Assists with logistics of arranging transition events, such as making reservations. Enters authorizations for center students, transition retreats and summer program participants. Collects and organizes release forms and other student paperwork, follows up with parents to obtain required paperwork, completes student surveys. Edits documents, fliers and handouts. Manages and reviews physical receipts, assists in preparation of travel vouchers and purchase orders. Obtains supplies, obtains and organizes technology quotes, arranges for repair of technology with vendors. Updates loaner pool equipment databases. It is the policy of the Department for the Blind to conduct background checks on all finalist candidates prior to any offer of employment. Minimum Qualification Requirements Experience equal to one year of full-time clerical or closely related work; OR post high school course work in an accredited secretarial, business, or closely related curriculum may be substituted for the required experience on a month-for-month basis; OR completion of thirty (30) semester (or equivalent) hours of undergraduate college level course work may be substituted for the one year of required experience; OR certification from the State of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program will substitute for six months of the required experience; OR employees with currentcontinuous experience in the state executive branch that includes permanent status as a TypistAdvanced.
