    DAY/SHIFT/HOURS: MONDAY – FRIDAY 7A – 6P

    THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT/RADIOLOGY TECH WILL DEMONSTRATE THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE QUALITY CARE APPROPRIATE TO THE AGE OF THE PATIENT.  THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT SUPPORTS THE PHYSICIAN IN PROVIDING CARE FOR ADOLESCENT, ADULT, AND GERIATRIC PATIENTS, WHILE ALSO PERFORMING RADIOLOGY EXAMS AND FLUOROSCOPIC PROCEDURES ON PATIENTS OF ALL AGES. MAINTAINS PATIENT SAFETY.

     WORKS UNDER THE DIRECTION AND SUPERVISION OF THE PHYSICIAN AND UPS MANAGEMENT.  THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT ACTIVELY PARTICIPATES IN PATIENT CARE ROUTINES ASSISTING WITH ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING AND SPECIFIC TECHNICAL TASKS WITH CONSIDERATION FOR THE AGE OF THE PATIENT.  PROVIDES QUALITY CARE IN A CUSTOMER-FOCUSED CONSIDERATE MANNER RESPECTING THE PATIENT’S RIGHTS.  DOCUMENTS CARE PROVIDED FOLLOWING ESTABLISHED GUIDELINES.  THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT ALSO COMPLETES INDIRECT CARE ACTIVITIES NEEDED FOR THE EFFICIENT OPERATION OF THE PHYSICIAN OFFICE.  MAY REQUIRE WORKING AT OTHER UNION PHYSICIAN SERVICES LOCATIONS, AS NEEDED.  PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

           Performs general radiology, portable, and fluoroscopic procedures (GIs, GUs, pediatrics, arthrograms, spine, etc.)

    • Produces images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay
    • Maintains documentation requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately
    • Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation
    • Ensure patients’ comfort and safety during and after the exam. May assist with scheduling patients as needed.
    • Demonstrates the care and operation of Radiology equipment according to technical specifications and applications
    • Notifies management and takes proper action to address equipment malfunctions
    • Assists Radiologist with fluoroscopic, GE, GI, and pediatric patients
    • Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS, when applicable, knowledgeable in after-hours transmission and appropriate paperwork – immediately reports any malfunctions to help desk.
    • Provides instruction and mentoring to new hires and Radiology students.
    • Capable of after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
    • Ensures exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies
    • May be required to rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant.
    • Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing.
    • State of Ohio License registered as a Radiological Technologist.
    • BLS required.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills/ability to work well with people projecting a positive image for the Hospital.
    • A good understanding of age-related issues of infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and their families with regard to their specific physical and mental health needs.
    • Minimum one year experience as a General Radiologic Technologist preferred.
    • Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes.
    • Ability to lift or assist with lifting patient of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily. Ability to spend majority of time on feet with substantial amount of walking, pushing, pulling and lifting patients.
    • Ability to communicate well with Radiologists and physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients.
