  • Qualifications

Each summer, we ask our potential summer staff, “Why do you want to work at camp?” The answers are generally focused on “impacting the lives of kids” and “I want to do something different this summer.” However, no one seems to say, “Because I need to make a lot of money for school/books/housing etc.” It’s true, camp doesn’t pay as much as working at the mall or the local fast food place, but Camp isn’t about what you put in your bank account at the end of the summer. It’s all about what you put into your mind and your soul. Working at camp is about personal growth and development, quality relationships, overall camp community, excellence in a job well done, and, most of all, the most fun you can have in a 10-week time frame.

If you love being with children, being a mentor, acting goofy most of the time but knowing when to be serious, you enjoy the outdoors, if you’re OK with little to no privacy, and making the most amazing friendships, then camp is for you!

The relationships that you make at camp are amazing. Not only will you meet campers from all over the world, but you’ll meet staff who have the same drive, determination, and experiences that you do. After 10 weeks at camp, you’ll walk away with not only a deeper sense of who you are but also an understanding of the impact that you had on a young child’s life. At camp, we say “CFAB” (pronounced sea-fab) which stands for Camp Friends Are Best. You won’t know how true that is until you’ve left the front gates to go back home. Once you work at camp, you’ll never want to go back to anything else.
