AIE Program:

The Americold Summer Internship Experience is a 12-week, full time, paid internship that takes place over the summer term in various locations throughout the country. During this experience, our interns will gain valuable knowledge related to IT Data Analytics, while contributing to the one of the COOLest business sectors.

The internship opportunity will afford our interns to better understand of the supply chain industry, work on challenging and industry-specific projects, plus the ability to collaborate with organizational leaders, colleagues, and peers.

Primary Responsibility:

As a data analytics intern, you will assist Americold’s business leaders in their decision-making process. This is accomplished through the generation and interpretation of data. Leveraging creative thinking to analyze problems and framing statistical results in a business context. Transform user needs & functional designs/specifications into data dashboards and visualizations, perform data mining and predictive modeling, and maintains analysis throughout the various stages of development from proof of concept prototypes to functional software.

Essential Functions:

1. DESIGN: Works closely with Functional/Systems Analyst to collect, organize, document and execute high quality data cleaning/merging/analysis. Assist in designing data automation processes for large and small quantities.
2. DEVELOPMENT: Develops effective and informative reports and visualizations. Translating findings into business terms and actionable guidance. Assist in developing data dashboards that are visually appealing and simple to navigate for the end users.
3. TESTING: Creates test plans, test files, and scripts for unit testing through integration testing. Performs testing as required & documents results.
4. Maintain and assure the accuracy and consistency of data integrity.
5. Track initiatives by monitoring progress towards meeting goals and achieving benchmarks by analyzing data and ensuring the follow-through of key players.
6. Use statistical concepts such as regression, time series, mixed model, Bayesian methods, clustering, etc. to analyze data and provide insights.
7. Work in an Agile, collaborative environment, partnering with other engineers, and database administrators of all backgrounds and disciplines to bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of predicting behaviors.

What Experience You Need

Qualifications & Experience:

Education, Training & Professional Experience:

• Pursuing Bachelors or Masters of Science degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or equivalent
• Experience/Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming Concepts, Data Structures, Data Mining, Machine Learning and AI
• Basic programming with Languages: C#, ASP.NET, Java, C++, PL/SQL, T-SQL is a benefit (any of these)
• You have a strong understanding of programming languages extensively used in Data Science applications (e.g., R, Python, Scala, Java, etc.)
• Experience in core data science activities
• Experience in PowerBI is a benefit
• Understanding of public cloud such as AWS or Azure is preferred
• Familiarity with XML, XSD, JSON, REST
