    The 2019 SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM is for students enrolled in major fields of study that align with full-time employment opportunities at John Deere. Students may enter the program during undergraduate or graduate studies. The majority of our internship experiences are offered in the summer months, usually lasting 13 weeks.

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

    An electromagnetic compatibility graduate student supports product analysis, design, and/or testing activities for electronic components and systems used on vehicles with regards to electromagnetic compatibility. Specific activities vary by position but will include one or more of the following responsibilities:

    • Understand and be able to communicate electromagnetic compatibility requirements of electronic assemblies and vehicles to a variety of team members, both technical and non-technical.
    • Work with engineers of other disciplines (manufacturing, mechanical, software, etc...) to integrate electromagnetic compatibility solutions into electronic assemblies and vehicles.
    • Design for and troubleshoot electromagnetic compatibility and signal integrity concerns on a variety of products, such as power electronic systems, telematics, displays, and vehicle controllers.
    • Support the testing and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and vehicles during electromagnetic compatibility testing.
    • Provide technical analysis and a physical understanding of electromagnetic compatibility and signal integrity concerns.
    • Develop design methodologies for electronic assemblies with regards to electromagnetic compatibility and signal integrity.
    • Simulate electronic assemblies to assess electromagnetic compatibility and signal integrity performance.

  • Qualifications

    WHAT SKILLS YOU NEED

    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Working knowledge and hands-on experience testing electrical components using standard lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
    • Experience using modeling tools such as Matlab and circuit analysis.
    • Experience with electromagnetic modeling tools such as ANSYS HFSS or CST.
    • Enrolled in an Engineering Masters or PhD program. Course work or research with a concentration in electromagnetic compatibility or signal integrity.
    • Minimum required cumulative GPA of 2.8 however, a 3.4 on a 4.0 scale is preferred.
