  • Responsibilities

    The 2017 Construction & Forestry Field Representative Development Program prepares candidates for significant roles in John Deere's Equipment divisions through varied work experiences. This includes exposure to marketing, products, competition, and many other aspects of John Deere customer support. Additional training includes traveling with field managers and interaction with the dealer channel. This position may lead to future jobs, such as Territory Customer Support Manager, Training Instructor, Aftermarket Development Manager and Product Marketing Manager.

    Develop employees who are proficient and effective in technical support capabilities and systems, who can later work in customer support field-based roles. Program participants are provided with work and educational experiences that help them quickly learn the business while building a strong professional network. The 15-18 month program features three rotational assignments within a variety of Construction & Forestry departments.

    Rotation Types

    Product Rotation Examples

    • DTAC: Learn product technical support processes, systems, and tools. Develop and execute technical support on John Deere products.
    • Training Center: Create product comparison bulletins, help develop and deliver dealer training, assist at Spring Training event

    Channel Rotation Examples

    • Division: Work with territory customer support manager to develop plans for managing customer retention processes and execute dealer product support business initiatives
    • John Deere WorkSight: Support technology consultants, help dealers understand technologies and services Marketing, Marketing Services, and Product Support Services Rotation Examples
    • Product Marketing: Help conduct customer focus groups (CAGs), analyze product sales by specific market segments, research competitive products
    • Technical Publications Development: Learn processes, systems, and tools which manage the development of technical support publications

    Post-Program Placement

    • Representatives are selected for post-program roles which best match their skills and experiences.
    • Recent positions include Assistant Territory Customer Support Manager, Factory Technical Support Specialist (DTAC Specialist) and Project Manager.
    • Willingness to relocate and travel for future field-based opportunities is required.

    Skills You Will Need

    • Typical Degrees: Industrial Technology, Construction, Ag Systems Management, Engineering
    • GPA: 2.8 minimum, 3.0 or higher preferred
    • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and technical skills; aptitude for hands-on, product-related work. Must be willing to travel more than 50% and be willing to relocate. Flexibility, capacity to learn and willingness to take on new assignments is required.
    • Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and have the ability to legally rent a car.
    • Additional language skills and/or international experiences desired.
    • We have locations across the United States so you must be willing to relocate domestically.
    • Work Statement: US Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
