    SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (IT EARLY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM)

    This position is for new or recent graduates in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related degree. The IT EDP is a three-year rotational program through which new or recent college graduates are recruited to build IT skills that are essential to future business growth and needs.  This serves as the primary entrance point for entry-level positions in Corporate IT, John Deere Financial IT, and Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) at John Deere.  It also builds a solid foundation of IT knowledge and an understanding of IT services provided at John Deere through two meaningful 18-month rotations.  The IT EDP creates a qualified pipeline of talent for early-career positions.

    As a Software Developer in our IT Early Development Program (IT-EDP) at John Deere Financial in Johnston, Iowa you will be part of a team developing the front end and back end code for John Deere Sales Center as part of the Order Management Project. You will be working on cutting edge technologies such as React, Swagger, Nodejs. As a front end developer you will code in React and/or Angular web pages with responsive design.  As a back end developer you will be coding in Java to interface with SAP systems, SAP Hana and also other many Deere back end components. At the end of the first rotation you will be a Full Stack Developer.

    Primary Position Responsibilities & Duties

    • Participate, as required to design, develop, test and integrate Java web applications.
    • Identify, analyze and apply information technology and business practices to support strategic business process/plans/projects.
    • Support, evaluate, and continuously improve information technology and business processes to maintain alignment with business plans.
    • Perform activities according to project plans and schedules with minimal review.

  • Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related degree.
    • Desired cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Minimum cumulative GPA required of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.

    Required Skills, Knowledge, & Relevant Work Experience

    • Java/J2EE programming, HTML, JavaScript, SQL or similar languages
    • Programming skills necessary to create and maintain web and service based applications
    • Application development environments, database design
    • Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
