    Job Description

    Ameresco currently has a new opportunity at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME for an experienced Site Safety Manager to be responsible for planning, preparing, organizing, implementing, and executing all safety administrative and performance requirements for an assigned project in accordance with contract specifications, EM-385, OSHA, Ameresco internal Safety Management System, and Accident Prevention Plan (APP), while fully integrating with the project team to support the safe production of quality work. This position may provide oversight to daily activities for assigned direct reports.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections;
    • Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports;
    • Maintain the OSHA Form 300 and Daily Production reports for prime and sub-contractors;
    • Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements;
    • Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site;
    • Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory inspection meeting, and periodic in-progress meetings;
    • Implement, update and enforce APPs and AHAs;
    • Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution;
    • Post a list of unresolved safety and health deficiencies on the safety bulletin board;
    • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material safety data sheets;
    • Communicates successes, challenges, and corrective actions to all stakeholders in a clear and professional manner, in support of Ameresco’s Safety Values;
    • Assist the Project Manager with daily tasks and reporting; and
    • Perform other duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum 5 years large scale commercial/ government/ industrial construction site safety experience.

    ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and industry; standards plus familiarity with Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1 highly desirable.
    • Ability to manage positive and effective interpersonal, functional, organizational relationships with all parties.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and presentation skills.
    • Valid Driver License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
    • Ability to travel and provide on-call response required.
