We are seeking a Meteorology student in Dallas Texas for the summer of 2018 to help inspire and develop the next generation of aviation meteorologists. As an Aviation Meteorologist Intern, you will work alongside a team of experienced aviation meteorologists to learn about advanced forecasting processes and about providing decision support to airline operations control centers. This internship will help prepare student for a real-world experience in aviation forecasting and will provide the industry knowledge and experience needed to start a career in this field. You will also assist on projects to advance the understanding of the weather impacts to this industry. This will require the use of your meteorological education to analyze weather and draw conclusions from the data. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: -Observe and assist meteorologist in the interpretation of weather data to develop forecasts for aviation. -Observe airline operations staff in how they use weather data in their decision making processes. -Develop knowledge of airspace, air traffic control programs affecting the airlines Hub and Focus City domains. -Provide trend analysis and forecast briefings to be leverage by dispatchers and traffic management personnel. -Actively collaborate with other meteorologists on Global weather issues particularly in the 0-48 hour time frame. Specific focus on forecast trends through 24 hours. -Participate in project work related to weather and its impact on airline operations.
