    Doctor of Pharmacy - Internship -Description -Doctor of Pharmacy Internship The Doctor of Pharmacy Intern position is a month-long learning experience for 4thyear PharmD candidates. This is a full-time internship during which students receive approximately 40 hours of experiential training per week over a one-month period. During this time, they contribute to projects that help to advance Omnicells business. There is no compensation associated with this position. Student Responsibilities Activities include: -Various projects to support ongoing work at Omnicell -Project-related research and presentations -Internal and external meeting attendance -Participation in quality assurance activities -Participation/observation of preceptor roles Course Objectives At the completion of the course the student/intern should be able to: -Describe Omnicells Patient Engagement Solutions (PES) portfolio, the relevance of its use to patients, pharmacies, payers, and the healthcare system. -Present written and verbal reports to preceptor and others, as determined. -Identify and critically evaluate literature relevant to projects -Apply return on investment principles to perform a cost-benefit analysis of proposed projects or services. -Develop a method to evaluate the outcomes of the proposed project or service. -Apply self-directed and team learning principles to the accomplishment of the proposed project or service. -Describe PES ability to improve patient care, health outcomes, and pharmacy efficiency. -Demonstrate various roles that pharmacists may hold in a healthcare technology company. The intern will be assigned a number of different projects and assignments and will work with multiple preceptors for projects. Each individual will provide a schedule for meetings, updates and deliverables. Required Knowledge and Skills -Good academic standing -Strong communications and teamwork skills -Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with others -Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize to achieve optimal results -Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to accurately analyze information -Confident communicator and presenter -Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be accountable for results -Proficiency on personal computers specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint -Passion for advancing the care of patients -Highly motivated -Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills General Format / Guidelines -The student will generally spend on average 2-3 hours per day on site in meetings at Omnicell or meeting with preceptor. -The student will participate in meetings as assigned and represent preceptor if requested at meetings. -Due to the nature of their jobs, preceptors will travel; however, the primary preceptor will schedule routine conference calls to touch base regarding projects or issues -All information learned and gained during internship will remain confidential and cannot be shared with anyone outside of Omnicell. The student may also be exposed to confidential information that may not be shared with others internally. Students should expect both a formal mid-point and final evaluation as part of the internship experience. Student Project Expectations Projects will come from a variety of preceptors. Interns should expect the following from preceptors for projects assigned. -Preceptors are responsible for providing continual guidance for all projects and work. -Students will be provided both a verbal and written summary of the project expectations -Since students will work with different project preceptors, the student can expect an overview of what each potential preceptor does and their roles and responsibilities within Omnicell. -The project preceptor will provide the student a high level summary of Omnicell products and services pertinent to a particular project. -Project preceptors will communicate the desired final format/outcome with the student: -Projects will be learning experiences for the interns. -Very large projects may be defined in phases. -Preceptors will work with the student to have check point meetings daily to 2-3 times per week. If working remotely, this may be done by Skype or conference calls. Requirements for Successful Completion -Complete at least one major project -Complete multiple smaller projects, in balance with the time demands of the larger project -Participate in 40 hours per week of hands on experience/projects -Work collaboratively with Omnicell team members Basic Qualifications -4thyear PharmD candidate in good academic standing Preferred Qualifications -Knowledge of computer hardware and software -Experience with health information technology Work Conditions -Office environment -Potential travel to other Omnicell sites, conferences, or customer locations (P) -Nothing in this job description restricts managements right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
