For more information visit - . Job Description: AER is hiring for a 10- to 12-week summer internship in scientific computing at our Lexington, MA office. The intern will work on a project in atmospheric science, meteorology, remote sensing, machine learning, in our Advanced Science and Technology Division. The intern will perform data analysis and scientific computer modeling, or software engineering tasks as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, leveraging their existing technical and scientific skills to provide a new perspective on the project and thereby helping to inspire creativity across the organization. The position requires imaginative, dependable individuals who can work well as part of a team and who carefully scrutinize their technical work to ensure high-quality results. Responsibilities: - Support AERs Advanced Science and Technology Division by performing data analysis and programming tasks as part of project teams. - Assist in the modification and implementation of scientific programming applications. - Use established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze remotely sensed data. - Assist in the preparation and presentation of technical results and software documentation. - Contribute creative ideas to further the development of AERs scientific and engineering projects. - Expand your experience and technical skills under the guidance of AERs senior scientists and engineers. Requirements: - At least two years of undergraduate study or one year of graduate study in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field, such as meteorology, physics, chemistry, engineering, computer science, or applied math. Students currently studying for a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in these fields are especially encouraged to apply. - Fluency with Unix/Linux-based computer systems. - Excellent communication skills. - Demonstrated skill in programming or scientific modeling in languages such as Matlab, FORTRAN, Python, and R. - A desire to work with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services.
