For more information visit - . Job Description: AER is hiring for a 10- to 12-week summer internship as a Research Assistant at our Lexington, MA office. The Research Assistant will work on a research project in atmospheric chemistry, oceanography, meteorology, climatology, or remote sensing in our Research and Development Division. The Research Assistant will perform data analysis and scientific computer modeling tasks as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, leveraging their existing technical and scientific skills to provide a new perspective on the project and thereby helping to inspire creativity across the organization. The position requires imaginative, dependable individuals who can work well as part of a team and who carefully scrutinize their technical work to ensure high-quality results. Responsibilities: - Support AERs Research and Development Division by performing scientific research and programming tasks as part of project teams working on meteorology, oceanography, atmospheric chemistry, climatology, or remote sensing. - Assist in the modification and implementation of scientific programming applications. - Use established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze Earth science data. - Assist in the preparation and presentation of technical results and software documentation, as well as conference presentations, journal articles, and project reports. - Contribute creative ideas to further the development of AERs scientific projects. - Expand your scientific and technical skills under the guidance of AERs senior scientists and engineers. Requirements: - At least two years of undergraduate study or one year of graduate study in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field, such as oceanography, meteorology, physics, chemistry, engineering, computer science, or applied math. Students currently studying for a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in these fields are especially encouraged to apply. - Familiarity with Unix/Linux-based computer systems. - Excellent communication and scientific writing skills. - Some experience with scientific programming or modeling in languages such as Matlab, FORTRAN, Python, and R.
