The 2018 Rotational Engineer (RE) Program will take you down a path of limitless opportunity. This two-year program includes 2-3 rotations in Gates’ Development & Technical Centers and Production Facilities across the US. In order to increase Gates’ knowledge and development, assignments will span multiple facilities and/or functions during the length of the program.

    REs will join Gates’ engineering team and innovate in the science of motion performance. Through training and on-the-job experience REs gain an understanding of customer and market needs, research, design, development and test custom solutions that save costs, increase productivity, improve safety and conserve energy. Whether your engineering focus is in manufacturing, process, quality, packaging or research and development, you can help Gates build efficient and effective components and systems for the industrial and automotive worlds.

    The purpose of this program is to accelerate professional development with technical training and critical business assignments. And the benefits of becoming an RE are to gain diverse engineering and manufacturing experience such as:

    • Leadership, technical, and cross-functional competency development
    • Acquiring a thorough introduction to engineering and technology from a global product perspective
    • The opportunity to work in several functional assignments including Product Line Engineering, Advanced Materials Development, Applied Research & Development, Systems Engineering, Product Application, Testing Laboratories, Engineering Capability, Product Quality and Manufacturing
    • Providing the opportunity to learn, understand, and apply techniques
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical, Manufacturing, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, minimum 3.2 GPA
    • Graduation date between December 2017 and June 2018

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Manufacturing or experience as an intern or co-operative student in a highly regulated domestic or international manufacturing environment strongly preferred
    • 1-3 years of experience through education, student internships, etc. preferred

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Excellent communication (verbal and written), ability to work as a contributing member of a fast-paced engineering team
    • Positive attitude and strong desire to learn
    • Flexibility to move every 8-12 months during initial two-year Rotational Engineering program assignments (you will receive relocation assistance)
    • Prior academic experience as a team leader or group leader for class projects strongly preferred
    • Prior experience using Engineering software (CAD/CAM) is required
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite and other ERP systems, such as Oracle
    • Exhibits the Gates values in all actions and decisions
