    Undergraduate Intern / Co-op Program Overview

    • 3 or 6 month intern / co-op within a functional area of MKS Instruments that provides students a comprehensive and engaging experience from before your program starts to after the program ends.

    Through our partnership with UMass Lowell , we are looking for an exceptional Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Intern with a strong interest in multidisciplinary systems to work in a Development Engineering department supporting the design and testing of new products. The MKS Vacuum Solutions Division is the world’s leader in vacuum and pressure measurement instrumentation, supplying precision technologies to applications in semiconductor manufacturing and analytical instrumentation.

    Applicants must be enrolled as students at UMass Lowell, and position duties include:

    • Construct, debug, and test precision vacuum measurement instrumentation.

    • Work alongside Principal Engineers to understand issues and enhance performance of precision systems.

    • Design, debug, and implement new automated and manual vacuum test systems.

    • Work with low-noise analog electronics, embedded controllers, precision sensors, and vacuum control systems (sensors, pumps, valves, automated controls).

    • Prototype advanced mechanical packaging for precision sensors and high-stability thermal control hardware.

    What will you bring to the team, along with your limitless curiosity is:

    • A strong interest in multidisciplinary systems, precision instruments, analog electronics, thermal systems or mechanical packaging

    • Major in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

    • Some hands-on experience preferred, but not required

    • 3rd or 4th year student at UMass Lowell
