Accounting Intern

Location: Glenview, IL Internship Dates: Summer 2027 Hourly Pay: $23.95

Why This Role Matters

As an Accounting Intern with ITW Mechanical Fastening, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting Finance and Operations while developing skills in accounting, financial reporting, data analytics, and process improvement. This role combines traditional accounting exposure with a meaningful business project focused on improving how key financial and operational information is organized, reported, and used to support decision-making. Working alongside Finance and Operations leaders, you'll contribute to real business initiatives while building experience that prepares you for a future career in accounting or finance.

What You'll Do

• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and related financial reporting tasks.
• Partner with Finance and Operations to develop reporting tools that improve access to key financial and operational information and support business decision-making.
• Organize, validate, and analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, improve reporting, and generate business insights.
• Evaluate current reporting processes and identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve efficiency.
• Explore how AI and automation tools can improve the efficiency, consistency, and accessibility of financial reporting while validating outputs for accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and present project outcomes, insights, recommendations, and key learnings to division leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

What You Need to Succeed

Must-Have

• Rising senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, and comfort working with large data sets.
• Resourceful, self-motivated, and eager to learn in a dynamic business environment.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting and data visualization tools.
• Exposure to AI, automation, or process improvement initiatives.
• Previous internship, project, or coursework related to accounting, finance, reporting, or business analytics.
