A Spring/Summer 2019 internship/co-op position as a design engineer in AMDs Semi- Custom Business Unit. As a member of this R&D group the focus will be on designing, implementing and delivering the next generation SOCs that will enable future gaming, graphics and high performance computing products. Working with the Front End engineering team the individuals responsibilities may include: Synthesizing HDL and optimizing logic designs to meet area, power and performance targets. Verifying digital logic using industry standard simulation, static timing analysis and formal verification tools. Analyzing post-layout results to identify performance bottlenecks, test coverage issues, power optimization and area saving opportunities. Developing new scripts, flows or tools to improve the efficiency of the design implementation methodology. Education: Working towards a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science Desirable Skills / Experience: Experience with Linux, Windows and MS Office Programs. Excellent programming skills including Unix shell scripting and utilities (Perl, TCL, awk, grep, etc). Course work completed in SOC design including digital logic design, test concepts and verification methods. Familiarity with Verilog/VHDL, logic synthesis, static timing analysis, simulation and IC layout considered a plus. General knowledge of high performance memory interfaces, graphics processing, clock systems is desirable. Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills with an excellent attention to detail Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are highly valued. Teamwork oriented and strong interpersonal skills are a must.
