  • Responsibilities

    This position will be on 1st shift during the initial training period and then move to 2nd shift, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, after the completion of the apprenticeship program.

    The qualifying Folder‐Gluer Apprentice will participate in an accelerated training program in the RRD Packaging manufacturing environment that features four (4) graduating steps of increasing skill level, responsibility and pay. This training program may be completed in as few as 18 months or as many as 24 months, depending on the participant’s pace of progress. Upon graduating from the program, the participant will be fully qualified to assume the duties and receive the compensation of an experienced Folder‐Gluer Operator.

     

    Responsibilities: The successful Folder‐Gluer Apprentice will learn and perform the following:

    1. Operate safely in the plant and on equipment.
    2. Communicate effectively with other Folder‐Gluer operators and all upstream and downstream process owners.
    3. Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on the Folder‐Gluer equipment.
    4. Maintain a clean and organized machine and work area.
    5. Adhere to company’s operational and safety policies and reporting rules.
    6. Proof original job copy to sample to confirm accuracy of job specifications before job runs.
    7. Set up and operate Folder‐Gluer equipment with precision, and meet production targets and goals.
    8. Perform Folding‐Gluing operations according to a standard documented sequence.
    9. Prepares finished product by placing in boxes or Gaylord containers for delivery.
    10. Verify accuracy of entire Folding‐Gluing operation, before, during and at completion of process, and prepare an error‐free handoff to incoming shift operators and downstream processes.
    11. Maintain records of time, tasks, and number of pieces completed per job in proper database(s).
    12. Understands, completes, and verifies all necessary paperwork for appropriate task/job as deemed necessary.
    13. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Minimum 2 years of experience working with or around machinery
    • Experience in setting up and operating glue folder machines a plus, but not required
    • Experience working in the printing industry preferred
    • Ability to read and follow written job tickets and schedules
    • Experience using a ruler or other measuring device in the workplace
    • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, co-workers and customers

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and risk of electrical shock. Employees are expected to use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and follow appropriate procedures as recommended by EHS when conditions require its use. This may include, but is not limited to, hearing protection, goggles, safety shoes, lockout/tagout, etc.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Lifting up to 30 lbs regularly to move objects.   • Qualifications

     

    • Works in coordination with the Outpatient Services Program Manager to develop, implement, and maintain the Case Management Program according to the program goals and objectives.
    • Identifies, develops and maintains a current resource database of federal, state, community, and institutional resources.
    • Attends team conferences and networks for relationship building and resource development.
    • Using the Nursing Process develops, implements, monitors and modifies a plan of care for and with the individual and family/caregiver consistent with cultural, social, and psychological requirements, through an interdisciplinary, collaborative team approach.
    • Understands the developmental needs of all ages of patients throughout the continuum of life. Is able to adjust care to those needs. Documentation reflects that understanding.
    • Monitors the clients’ progress toward goal achievement with periodic reassessments of changes in health status.
    • Provides tracking and follow-up of abnormal test results in collaboration with provider team concept.
    • Supports and participates in teaching and training to expand services and increase public awareness of chronic disease prevention and control.
    • Develops standards, policies, procedures, and protocols to support nursing case management practice.
    • Helps to maintain referrals to individual Specialty Clinics, including scheduling and assisting doctors with procedures during scheduled clinic hours.
    • Assists in the coordination of patient appointments in Anchorage and the implementation, maintenance and follow-up in coordination with MHC Providers.
    • Assures labs have been drawn as scheduled and assists in the coordination of medication reconciliation with the Primary Care Provider, the Specialty Clinic, and/or ANMC.
    • Establishes, participates in, and evaluates program improvement goals such as patient outcomes, cost savings, patient compliance, and return to productivity.
    • Coordinates and facilitates health promotion, illness and disability prevention, and health education activities.
    • Participates in daily huddles in outpatient with the appropriate team members to include Providers, nurses, and unlicensed support staff.
    • Provides appropriate communication with others on the team as the need arises.
    • Maintains professional ethical standards of conduct at all times.
    • Demonstrates a positive customer service attitude at all times.
    • Utilizes team building, problem solving skills, and lean principles, in the on-going quality improvement initiatives.
