    General Responsibilities: The Switchgear Estimator will support and work closely with the IES salespeople and manufacturers reps to review project plans, requirements and specifications.  Responsible for the completion of estimate preparation, including take offs and verification of pricing from manufacturers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Switchgear Estimator typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Review and understand all project plans, requirements and specifications
    • Develop switchgear estimates
    • Determine labor and equipment costs
    • Review and understand all documents and assess project risks
    • Understand project logistics and project schedule
    • Interface with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction
    • Track and report on current material and labor prices, including escalation
    • Develop meaningful VE contributions to reduce price
    • Reconcile quantity surveys with consultants and design team, when appropriate
    • Responsible for preparation of pricing assumptions sheet stating the basis of the estimate
    • Ability to substantiate all aspects of final estimates

    Required Skills

    • Able to estimate all types of building projects, including residential high rise, healthcare, interiors and institutional
    • Knowledge of suitable electrical manufacturers for all types of projects
    • Able to take concept and schematic drawings and develop a meaningful estimate with detail
    • Familiar with the use of On-Screen Take-off software program and vendor estimation software a plus
