Background ofFunctionalAreaThe Advanced Imaging and Measurement team (AIM) is responsible for the development of new, non-invasive test methods for the advancement of the knowledge of skin and skin physiology. These methods are used to guide the development of and demonstrate the efficacy of our next generation skin care products. Project DescriptionWork collaboratively with AIM senior scientists to investigate and develop new image analysis methods that can be used to advance our understanding of skin and skin physiology. These learnings will be used for the identification of new, efficacious technologies for use in our next generation skin care products. Candidate DevelopmentAn exposure to the use of biophysical instrumentation and/or image analysis for conducting basic research to advance our knowledge and understanding of human skin, an understanding of the use of non-invasive testing methods and the role they play in the identification of new technologies for the creation of efficacious skin care products, exposure to a variety of departments and interaction with various levels of the organization and team leadership skills with local and remote team leaders. Desired DegreeThesis track Masters or Doctorate candidates in Optics, Engineering, Biophysical Instrumentation, Chemistry, Computer Science or related hard science field. Desired SkillsExperience in the use of Biophysical Instrumentation and/or Image Analysis for conducting basic research on biological systems, demonstrated knowledge of MatLab or Image J or Image Pro or Image Premier or related computer programs. prior experience in working in a research laboratory and positively contributing to the goals of the department as a researcher. *This is a summer 2019 internship; qualified candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and one semester or more left of school to complete at the beginning of their internship. Candidates who have graduated are not eligible to intern. This position is located in Ada, Michigan. ** This position is not eligible for Sponsorship.
