    POSITION SUMMARY AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Production Paint/Coat work focuses on coating surfaces of manufactured parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective materials (e.g., coating material, paint, varnish, blast). Includes setting up and operating painting/coating equipment. Cleaning, sanding, and/or masking surface to be painted. Selecting and mixing coating material. Monitoring painting system control panels and inspecting individual items to verify quality. Uses hand and power tools, forklifts and overhead cranes. 2ND SHIFT; 3:30 P.M. - 2:00 A.M. M-TH.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    PRODUCTION PAINT/COAT

    Works under direct supervision and within established guidelines.

    • High school education or equivalent
    • 0-1 year of experience
    • Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, forklifts and overhead cranes
    • Able to complete required documentation
    • Able to trouble shoot issues with equipment
    • Able to repair equipment
    • Able to inspect items to verify quality
    • Follow all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourage action assuring safe behavior; confront unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.
    • Regularly and predictably attend work and be punctual
    • Work in an unsupervised environment
    • Use a computer to communicate, create, and access information
    • Interact politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND JOB CONDITIONS

    GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    MEDIUM WORK:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Standing up to/or more than 8 hours a day.

     

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

    • CLIMBING:  Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
    • BALANCING:  Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
    • STOOPING:  Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
    • KNEELING:  Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knees.
    • CROUCHING:  Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
    • CRAWLING:  Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
    • REACHING:  Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
    • WALKING:  Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
    • PUSHING:  Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
    • PULLING:  Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
    • LIFTING:  Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
    • FINGERING:  Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
