    At Apergy we are building our key capabilities to accelerate and support our growth, thus Apergy Digital is now seeking to hire a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT.  This position would be located in Knoxville, TN.

     

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    The SENIOR ACCOUNTANT is responsible for maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded.  The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Perform the monthly financial close process including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing/posting journal entries, account balance reconciliations and financial statement preparation according to corporate deadlines and standards
    • Prepare summary feedback of financial statement variances to budget and prior periods
    • Assist with financial statement forecasting including Income Statement (Revenue and Earnings), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
    • Maintain fixed asset register, including leased assets, and monitor/track construction in progress (CIP) activity for new projects.
    • Assist with annual operating plan, strategic planning and departmental budget accountability providing leadership with accurate and timely information.
    • Drive working capital improvements in receivables, inventory, and vendor payment practices in order to strengthen cash position for the organization
    • Contribute to the organization continuous improvement culture through elimination of waste, standardization of work, and other best practices - work with all functions of the organization to monitor productivity initiatives; calculate and track cost savings
    • Establish a business partner relationship, in cooperation with other departments (Ops, sales, engineering, etc.), to provide relavent information to improve business decision making across the enteprise with respect to daily operations
    • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley, and corporate policies and procedures
    • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
    • Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns
    • Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades/implementation of ERP software
    • Maintain confidentiality in all matters

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
    • Minimum 3-5 years General Ledger & Financial Statements experience is required
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present, influence and collaborate at the leadership level.
    • Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel experience
    • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley rules, regulations, and practices
    • ERP and finance system operations and capabilities.
    • Proven ability to show respect, understanding, tact and concern to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others.
    • Maintains confidentiality and possesses high ethical standards.
    • Demonstrates a personable, positive and enthusiastic attitude
    • Fosters teamwork and collaboration within and across work groups.
    • Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with ambiguity.

     

    DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting and/ or CPA preferred
    • Experience with manufacturing Accounting experience (such as: Inventory management, product costing, revenue recognition and reporting).
    • Implementation and maintenance of a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment
