    Job Description

    Wabtec – Motive Equipment (MEI) produces cab comfort products for locomotives.     How will you make a difference?

    As a member of the Motive Equipment location of Wabtec, you will be responsible for production of quality products. The Assembler reports directly to the Production Supervisor, and indirectly to The Shop Floor Leads. The Production team ensures compliance with Wabtec’s quality standards, while working efficiently and effectively within a lean environment, and is instrumental in furnishing our customers with a quality and reliable product.

    What do we want to know about you?

    • Ability to work effectively unsupervised.

    • Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.

    • Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement change in process and procedures as needed.

    • Ability to understand and interpret drawings, BOMs and procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.

    • Possess basic math skills.

    • Requires a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

    What will your typical day look like?

    • Assembles components according to blueprints, routers, work orders, checklists, and specifications to build, assemble, and test parts and finished goods that meet quality standards in an accurate and timely fashion.

    • Accurately completes assembly checklists.

    • Monitors stock bins in work area and reports stock needs to Shop Floor Lead(s).

    • Ensures a safe and healthy work environment by following company standards and procedures.

    • Adheres to the Wabtec Code of Conduct.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    What about the physical demands of the job?

    Employee is regularly required to:

    • Hear.

    • Read, write, and communicate in English.

    • Stand and/or walk for 6 hours at a time, with minimal breaks.

    • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds independently or up to 50 pounds with assistance.

    • Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color distinction, and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.

    • Operate forklift and overhead crane

    • Employee is always required to wear steel toed shoes and safety glasses.

    • Employee is required to wear hearing protection in designated areas.

    • The Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.

    • Requires daily face-to-face interaction and communication with employees on production line and management.

    Work Environment:

    • The employee will normally work on the production shop floor that does not have controlled temperatures and will vary based on weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes and minimal to moderate noise.

    You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

    The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $18.50 - $20.00 per hour.

    The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
