    Job Description

    We are recruiting a Human Resources Manager to drive people and process transformation at our manufacturing plant in Kinston, NC. Initiative, ownership, and disciplined workforce development will be key differentiators in both the selection process and the successful execution of the roles and responsibilities of this key position. The ability to give and take orders in a command & control structure will benefit individual and organizational success in this role. A few important facts about this facility/location:

    • Located in a small town (pop 17K), it’s close enough to beaches and larger cities (Raleigh, Greenville) to be considered ideally located
    • Our 300K sq. ft. window manufacturing plant has been in continuous production since the 1980s, making us a very stable part of this community
    • This plant is a critical part of our overall production capacity, thus it receives and deserves the regular attention of our senior manufacturing leadership team.

    In general, this position is a key member of the Manufacturing Operational Human Resources Team and is responsible for the effective and successful people and process management, discipline and communications for 150+ non-exempt (direct and contingent) and exempt employees. This includes but is not limited to employee relations, seasonal temporary staffing, employee engagement, vendor management, performance management, benefits administration, reporting, and compliance.

    OBJECTIVES:

    • Working with operations team, develop a staffing and training model for a highly seasonal business
    • Responsible for effectively identifying, investigating and resolving employee relations issues, resolving complex labor and human capital challenges in a diverse workforce (Bilingual capabilities!)
    • Develop and implement process and tools that foster higher productivity and improved retention of workforce
    • Manage leadership team’s staffing and development
    • Support corporate employees based in the building with any employee relations needs

    DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Partnering with Plant Manager and entire plant leadership team to ensure a complete understanding of human capital needs and objectives, leading through effective communication and discipline
    • Effectively recruit, train and develop highly productive candidates motivated to achieve business objectives.
    • Daily management of 3rd party staffing partner
    • Counseling and provide assistance to employees and all levels of management in employee or management issues relating to promotion, termination or disciplinary action
    • Lead role in safety compliance and incident investigation
    • Reviews evaluation of performance and aligns associate objectives to business strategy
    • Sound working knowledge of applicable state and federal labor and employment laws
    • Perform weekly payroll functions

    • HR Director for Manufacturing Operations, Chief Human Resource Officer, and Corporate HR Teams
    • Peer group of AMI Plant HR Professionals
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • 5+ years of progressively responsible HR business partner experience in all major functional areas of HR for a manufacturing operations.
    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Industrial Relations or related field is desired.
    • BILINGUAL ENGLISH/SPANISH IS PREFERRED.
    • Demonstrates integrity, flexibility, sound judgment and strong critical thinking skills.
    • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
    • Familiarity with ADP/HRIS and strong Microsoft Office skills.
