    HOW WILL YOUR ROLE IMPACT FIRST COMMAND?

    The Data Engineer II will be responsible for design and implementation of data integration and data services across the enterprise.  As part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics Team, the Data Engineer II will have the opportunity to shape the culture of data integration practices based on the Enterprise Data and Analytics strategy and Data Governance outcomes. 

    The Data Engineer II will use new and established automation and integration tools, Enterprise Information Management Strategy (EIMS), frameworks, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to partner with the First Command lines of business to rationalize data needs that are critical to our data transformation which includes a migration to the Azure Cloud.  

    The ideal candidate is outcome-focused and has a collaborative style that fosters teamwork. They will be required to work across multiple groups and initiatives. 

    WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop an understanding of their business requirements and operational processes;
    • Implement and act on the recommendations, outcomes and designs from Data Governance and Enterprise Architecture;
    • Develop ETL automation and integration capabilities to implement the data lifecycle, considering how data is created, transformed, stored, archived, analyzed and shared in the organization;
    • Contribute to process for making data architecture decisions
    • Complete data exploration and profiling by leveraging data analysis, design and presentation tools;
    • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing automation, integration, services, etc. to provide the right data to the right place at the right time;
    • Develop and implement automated solutions to optimize efficiency and quality of First Command enterprise data and business processes;
    • Partner with Information Technology and business unit groups to develop and implement comprehensive automation and business critical data which will be leveraged for solutions that provide consistent, clean and integrated data which enables business intelligence;
    • Implement methods to include unstructured and big data, such as social media, emails, pictures, videos, voice and sensor data, client surveys and feedback.

    WHAT SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU NEED?

    Education

    • BS preferred; MBA or MS or equivalent a plus

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 4+ years of applied experience in data integration, ETL, and data management or comparable positions that handle large/complex data sets, developing automation, and fostering business partner relationships
    • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
    • Expert in SQL with knowledge of SQL
    • Expert in ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory and Informatica
    • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and generating innovative solutions
    • Expert in transforming manual processes to industry standards and automation
    • Proficient in understanding of data mapping and lineage strategies
    • Proficient in understanding in conceptual, logical and physical data design
    • Proficient in understanding of data management practices, data architecture principles, and data governance process

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Financial services industry experience or other highly regulated industry experience a plus
    • Certifications related to Data Integration a plus
    • Applied experience in Agile, SAFe, Scrum or Lean Six Sigma
    • Familiarity with analytics solutions and data science capabilities
    • Familiarity with object-oriented programming and the software development process
    • Familiarity with data science and analytics tools such as SPSS, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • Determine causes of rejects and modify or repair components as necessary.
    • Assist engineers in implementing new production processes or modifying old processes to meet new standards.
    • Work from complicated operation sheets, blue prints, written and oral instructions, and EMIs to insure the proper assembly of a wide variety of components. May rework difficult-to-assemble components to meet required specifications.
    • As necessary, will be required to attend and pass solder certification classes, and be recertified on an annual basis. Must be able to solder close tolerance connections, working with precision components of high dollar value.
    • Investigate difficulties other assembly personnel may have in producing workable components. Reports findings and makes corrective action recommendations to supervisor or engineer assigned to project.
    • At times, must use extreme care and considerable judgment in making fine adjustments to various components and in the equipment used to test components.
    • As necessary, instruct other assembly personnel in the proper procedures for assembly of various components.
    • Perform calibrations, tests and unique assembly operations on a wide variety of production, pre-production prototype and experimental products.
    • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
