MISSION / SUMMARY:

• Learning designed to develop engineering skills, provide fast-track industry experience, and teach “hands-on” engineering processes and strategies
• Develop relationships with leadership and operators
• Lead engineering projects that impact key business initiatives – sometimes individual projects, and sometimes leading a team
• Attends and participates in department meetings as scheduled
• Troubleshooting of tasks based on need – can be in various areas including the papermachines, stock prep, waste water, powerhouse and any other area required
• Provides support implementing best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

• Proactively complete learning curriculum
• Manage, report regularly upon, and complete your projects
• Actively participate in special project teams of which you are a part
• Various Manufacturing Analysis
• Other duties as assigned

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

• Your prior experiences must demonstrate initiative, intellectual curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, success managing multiple priorities, an affinity for working in a manufacturing operations environment, and working well in a team under deadline pressure.  Prior experience may include internships, co-op assignments, summer jobs, and volunteer work, leadership roles in student or college-affiliated organizations, full-time or part-time positions. Work experience related to field of study is desirable.
• *Prior full time experience in engineering is considered but not required.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science, Packaging, Printing, Electrical, Mechanical or related degree
• *Advanced Degree considered but not required

• Sense of Geographic Adventure. This is a rotational program, so relocation is required. We assist with relocation; you bring the ability and desire to relocate.

• Get your Hands Dirty. We are a “roll up your sleeves” manufacturing operation. You have the drive and desire to work in manufacturing plants, understand the operations, and be actively involved on the shop floor.

• Manufacturing happens in real-time on the shop floor, and we are a 24-7 operation. You are able and willing to work “shift” hours when required.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

• GENERALLY, YOUR SCHEDULE IS A SHIFT ASSIGNMENT AND WE MAKE EFFORTS TO SCHEDULE YOU DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS; HOWEVER, ENGINEERING IN MANUFACTURING IS A SHIFT-DRIVEN OPERATION. YOU ARE WILLING TO WORK ALTERNATE SCHEDULES AS ASSIGNED, WHEN IT GETS THE JOB DONE. THIS COULD BE EARLY MORNINGS, NIGHTS, AND/OR WEEKENDS. PUNCTUALITY IS KEY – IT IS A DISPLAY OF RESPECT FOR YOUR TEAMMATES AND CLIENTS, AND IT INDICATES YOUR RESPECT FOR WHAT YOU DO.

• You will occasionally have overnight travel that could include flying, driving, riding or rail travel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
