- Determine direction of H.R. department in relation to plant objectives.
- Conduct employee performance appraisals on H.R. staff, monitor and provide guidance to employees who are also required to conduct performance appraisals.
- Write and amend department job descriptions, monitor and provide guidance to employees who are also required to create job descriptions.
- Manage the health and safety program.
- Manage the salary merit program.
- Manage the labor relation activity within the plant and administer the collective agreements.
- Establish and control department budget.
- Participate in continuous improvement groups to resolve problems.
- Oversee the training plan and evaluate its effectiveness.
- Maintain hourly manpower levels.
- Assist plant manager in acquiring additional employees.
- Ensure all government legislation dealing with the H.R. function is been complied with.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Special projects as assigned by the plant manager.
- Manage the salaried benefit program.
- Other duties as assigned.
