    We’re seeking a IT Project Management Intern to be based in Mentor, Ohio to join our business in North America during the summer of 2021. You will provide Project Management support for North America operations. You will work on projects that support IT’s continuous efforts to standardize and streamline processes.

     

    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

    In this role you will:

    • Work with Avery Dennison IT department and functional teams to initiate, plan, execute and close critical projects. Examples of projects our interns have worked on in the past include launching our Business to Business Customer Portal, Creating a  how-to video library for our new global R&D innovation platform and helping to define our IT business analyst Community of Practice (CoP)  Depending on the size and duration, your actual work may only cover one or two of the standard Project stages. 

    • Work with the PMO (Project Management Office) to identify and drive needed process improvements to improve our portfolio management processes.  A previous intern was the Project manager for our new PMO lessons learned process, leading the effort to create a new MVP tool and process end to end.

    • Learn basic project management skills, tools and methodology

    ** Intern will be provided a mentor to help navigate the assignments

     

    WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH THE OPPORTUNITIES TO:

    • Develop analytical capabilities by helping define, document and leverage IT business analysis

    • Use real world, hands on activities in a $4+billion dollar manufacturing company to see how IT project managers and business analysts define and deliver technical solutions to the business

    • Develop technical capabilities by learning how a specific technical solution meets the functional requirements of a project and how to test those requirements against system performance

    • Develop business skills: learn and use basic project management and business analysis skills through daily interactions with business and IT team members

    • Develop an understanding of business processes, professional conduct, collaboration, prioritization and delivering business value in a Fortune 500 company

    EDUCATION

    • Pursuing a BS in Information Technology or Business or related field required.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • Previous internship/co op experience or relevant work experience (a plus)

    • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel or Google Sheets skills, (a plus)

    • Strong problem-solving skills with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

    • Strong organizational skills

    • Experience via student organizations, such as Beta Alpha Psi, Association of Latino Professionals of America, Multicultural Business Association, Finance Association, Women in Finance, etc.

    • Volunteerism or similar activities
