    Job Description

    Avery Dennison is looking for a UX Designer to join our team. UX designers bridge the gap between the user, the development team, and key business stakeholders. As a UX Designer, you will be the voice of the customer, creating a seamless digital journey across Avery Dennison websites and digital properties, from apps to internal websites. 

    Armed with research, goals and your background, you will advocate for the end-user at different stages of their journey, while partnering with our digital solutions team to create digital experiences for our customers. Whether you’re designing a brand new product, coming up with a new feature, or making changes to an existing product or service— the UX designer must consider what’s best for the user and the overall user experience. At the same time, you are also responsible for making sure that the product or service meets the needs of the business. This person must thrive in a rapidly changing environment and love the challenge of adopting new technologies and systems into an existing business ecosystem. The ideal candidate will also have UI experience and be able to help across marketing activities.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Execute on a holistic end-to-end user experience vision across multiple platforms.
    • Support and maintain a base of knowledge that informs future ideas: support the creative processes, workflow, and always look for areas of improvement.

    • Apply brand identity systems, typography, and any other visual elements appropriately to create innovative solutions that meet user and business needs.
    • Ensure design principles and best practices for various products are met.
    • Have a good understanding of current design patterns and guidelines for both mobile and web and be able to create a coherent cross device experience.
    • Ensure that visual design mockups are consistent with the style and brand guidelines.
    • Ensure all production processes are to the highest standard.
    • Participate in Ideas sessions, bringing a design perspective.
    • Help create and produce solutions that suit business needs.
    • Learn about each of our personas and optimize each platform with their considerations to meet their needs.
    • Give back to the team by improving and documenting new patterns and approaches  within our evolving design language.
    • Develop user experience design concepts, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, usage scenarios, specifications, and other UX design deliverables for the highest priority initiatives.
    • Assists in UX research, testing, and design on larger projects
    • Under the guidance of the team leads and stakeholders maintain and take ownership of specific tasks, while furthering your own design and communication skills.
    • Produce effective and well organized design deliverables ready for developer hand-off.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Learning Sciences, Statistics, Psychology, related field, or equivalent practical experience
    • 2-3 years of experience as a UX Designer in a design team, creative agency or similar environment (Digital agency is a plus).
    • Keen design sense: understanding of typography, color theory, usability, HCI concepts and current design trends/industry standards.
    • Ability to provide rationale for design choices; assure design meets business objectives.
    • A fearless and spontaneous imagination coupled with obsessive attention to detail.
    • Ability to work with highly technical cross-functional teams and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Can go beyond just design; can think conceptually and can brainstorm ideas within a larger team.
    • A portfolio that showcases your design work or speaks to your contribution directly.
    • Great communication skills.
    • Ability to speak to / present your work.
    • An insatiable appetite for design and a willingness to learn new skills.
    • Self-starter who is an insight-obsessed, human-centric, detail-oriented and an enthusiastic team player.
    • Fluency with visual and interaction design tools
    • Understanding of technical requirements and limitations with a good working knowledge of interactivity, native mobile operating systems and the web.
    • Proficiency in AEM, Adobe Creative Cloud, Axure, Framer, Gigma, Flinto, Frontify, Google Analytics, HTML & CSS, InVision, Origami, Office, CRM Systems, Sketch App, Swift, Wordpress, Zeplin. (Atomic Design Experience is a huge plus)
    • Consistently delivered high quality work on time.
