    Job Description

    Has the primary responsibility for proactively managing the product solutions portfolio that addresses restaurant and grocery store market trends and needs, including software applications and hardware (printers, smart devices) that form enabling solutions for the management of a restaurant or food store.  Responsible for driving revenue and profit to meet or exceed assigned goals. Responsible for market intelligence (understanding the ecosystem and environment) concepts, releases. Manage the full product life cycle from developing concepts upgrades and enhancements, through obsolescence for the global marketplace. Manage concept development processes, programs, and resources involved with restaurant and grocery solutions to enable their use by customer associates through effective applications and interfaces to existing customer networks, as well as cloud based solutions, enabling easy integration. Will have direct interface with customers and prospects, partner software application providers, a range of Engineering functions, the Avery Dennison sales force, outside engineering groups, and operations.  

    RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    1. Provides a deep understanding of the food store/ restaurant kitchen or preparation areas. Draws on this understanding to act as the subject matter expert on the industry, including trends and technology solutions provider ecosystem.

    2. Draws upon this deep understanding to define and manage food restaurant/ grocery store hardware and software solutions and applications that enable our solutions to improve productivity and profitability, as well as enhance the customer's brand through complete compliance to food safety requirements. Defines and manages solutions that improve the availability of decision making information to all restaurant/ grocery stakeholders (including consumers). Manages product concepts, from idea and definition through product launch.  Develops concepts, business cases and product prospectuses. Plans future multi-generation solutions roadmaps, anticipating changing market needs. Together with Avery Dennison supply chain solutions experts, creates and helps manage the connectivity of store solutions backwards through the supply chain, ensuring a seamless “farm to fork” availability of information and business intelligence.

    3. Generates and develops ideas for new products, and evaluates their potential and practicality.  Develops and manages solution plans, including competitive product intelligence, customer and market research, forecast of product volumes, product specifications, features, and benefits.  Determines rollout plans, collaborates with Marketing Communications to guide communication and marketing materials.  

    4. Leads Ideation and Concept Development phases of product development process. Works closely with Engineering leaders in the definition, development, and launch phases of the development process.  

    5. Supports sales efforts as needed to achieve product line revenue and profitability goals. 

    6. Provides technical solutions to customer problems; becomes involved in major sales opportunities as a highly knowledgeable resource on assigned product solutions. Collaborates to obtain assistance as needed from other areas (such as Engineering); guides and trains technical support and sales personnel.

    7. Develops and delivers solutions and product training.

    8. Provides input to marketing materials; ensures technical accuracy.  

    9. Responsible for generating concepts from market insights and gathering concepts from others, with emphasis on software applications for food store use cases. 

    10. Develops solid working relationships with a variety of internal and external constituents, including customers, developers, partners, and sales.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor degree in engineering, marketing, software information solutions or other relevant area preferred.  

    2. 5+ years business experience, including 2+ years of experience in software application definition, development or product management, business development, or engineering. 

    3. Demonstrated ability for facilitating cross-organizational teams of professionals and managers.

    4. 5+ years of experience working in, or providing solutions for, food retail store operations, including retail systems, software, networks, and data collection.

    5. Demonstrated performance in concept generation and decision-making roles addressing software and/ or hardware product line issues, supporting phases of the product cycle and/ or post implementation product management ideas from concept through obsolescence.  

    6. High degree of planning, organization, communication, and presentation skills - both written and oral.
