    Job Description

    This engineering position provides an engaging environment, working in a fast-paced, global, cross-functional team to influence product development and customer use case decisions. The position works with RFID technology which is a critical link for enabling the Internet of Things, Block chain and Omni-Channel fulfillment.

    • The RFID Engineer designs and performs tests to ensure our RFID products meet customer requirements

      • Responsible for clear focused scientific rigor in evaluating RFID inlays with measurement equipment, various  readers, printers and other RFID systems 

      • Provides actionable data on new product development samples, prototypes and factory builds

    • The RFID Engineer will will optimize test processes including automating with software scripting as needed

      • Responsible for for documenting and following written procedures

      • Ensures test processes meet cross-functional team members needs in a timely manner

    • The RFID Engineer is accountable for product tests to develop strong value propositions 

      • Evaluate new product samples, accept or reject based on data collected and requirements

      • Conduct hands on applications testing creating test plans collecting data and articulating value and benefit of products across various market segments

      • Generate customer facing and internal reports and presentations with clear messaging

       

    • This role will ensure data integrity by characterizing RFID product in RFID encoding systems and developing encode parameters

      • Formatting RFID media integration into RFID encoding systems collaborating with media design and printer engineering groups 

      • Collaborate closely with other Avery Dennison groups including platform team system integrators and printer engineering

      • Work with document control systems responsible for updating critical spec documents for internal and customer use

       

    • This position has direct customer interaction to understand use cases and tagging requirements 

      • Translate customer requirements into design of experiments to define and recommend RFID tagging solutions

      • Consult with market development managers sales team and customers with application testing and product recommendation 

      • Responsible for the collection and analysis of customer and partner feedback on product samples 

      • Conduct training on product performance to our marketing and product line management teams

       

    • The RFID Engineer works directly with several RFID hardware systems including readers printers handheld etc to ensure our products meet specifications 

      • Scientific evaluation of RFID systems reporting on fitforuse and capabilities 

      • Create a market view of systems and how our tags and competitors perform

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree with 1+ years engineering research scientific or related experience with master's degree preferred 

    • Experienced with application engineering processes: collect data interpret data translate to real world benefits and outcomes 

    • Experienced with scripting test protocols using Python. Also helpful is Perl, VBA, Java, .NET and/or other

    • Experienced with RFID Wireless Communications protocols analog and power circuits and computer programming

    • Excellent analytical capability with the expertise to research and apply logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of technical problems 

    • Required system hardware/software setup and integration 

    • Experience with roll to roll manufacturing industrial printing and RFID manufacturing a plus Required RF (radio frequency) or antenna theory and experience in high frequency ultra high frequency or microwave frequency 

    • Experience with Six Sigma Lean and other manufacturing improvement methods 

    • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations

    • Demonstrated ability to thrive on a cross-functional team 

    • Skilled with applicable computer systems such as Google Applications, Microsoft Office and function specific software 

    • Strong math and organizational skills 

    • Keen interest in new technologies and their applications

    • Keen attention to detail

    • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to be an advisor to clients and build strong and sustainable relationships
