    About the Test Engineering I position

    Our Test Engineers are key members of a multidisciplinary, tight-knit group of engineers and technicians who develop, support, test, and improve Avidyne's wide array of products and projects. Each member of the engineering team is required to both specialize in their field and cross-train in other disciplines.

    The test engineering team supports product realization from design, development, and implementation of both manual and automated test equipment and software for production testing on both new and existing products. Primary activities include the mechanical design and fabrication of test fixtures, the design and fabrication of test related circuit card assemblies, participating in test software development, and creating or modifying test procedures toward continuous product improvement.

    Our Test Engineer I's responsibilities include:

    • Assisting with bring up, validation, and development of new test hardware and systems
    • Assisting with the operational checkout of systems under test as well as providing training to test and operations personnel
    • Working closely with design, software, firmware, testing, and manufacturing teams
    • Assisting with providing technical support to manufacturing including hands-on debug of test systems
    • Monitoring yields and work to continuously improve production test process improving quality, manufacturability, delivery, and cost
    • Creating test design documentation including test instructions, specifications, drawing, and verification plans
    • Assisting with the creation of test fixtures to support manual and automated testing of module and system level products
    • Providing Engineering Change Order review, coordination, and implementation tasks as well as validating changes to existing procedures and equipment.

    Qualifications:

    • Effective verbal and written communication (including technical documentation)
    • Adaptable and flexible with moving deadlines, requirements, and changing focus
    • Ability to work independently as well as within a team-oriented environment
    • Self-motivated and enthusiastic about solving problems
    • Ability to maintain a positive outlook
    • Knowledge and demonstrable ability with a high-level programming language (e.g., C++, C/C#, Python)
    • Knowledge of engineering principles
    • Knowledge of electronics and circuitry.

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related program of study. Will consider test development experience in lieu of degree
    • Academic or work experience with most, if not all, the following:
    • Test software for embedded systems (e.g., NI LabView)
    • Test development using a high-level programming language (e.g., C/C#, C++, Python).

    Other Desirable Experience:

    • Knowledge of aircraft systems and avionics sub-systems
    • Prior experience with NI LabVIEW
    • Knowledge and familiarity with PCB layout, design and debugging
    • Prior experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD
    • Knowledge and/or experience with environmental test chambers
    • Pilot's license, flight training, or familiarity with general aviation.
