    Bayer Animal Health Product Supply Internship Your tasks and responsibilities The Bayer Animal Health division is looking for six intern candidates for the Summer of 2017 focusing in the areas of Engineering; Manufacturing; Quality; Supply Chain Management; and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). The primary responsibilities of this role, Bayer Animal Health Internships, Product Supply are to: Major Tasks (Engineering Focus): * Assist with engineers in development of the project objectives and scope by analyzing customer requirements and producing sketches, drawings, written descriptions or specification for customer approval; * Ensure compliance with engineering standards, engineering procedures, plant safety standards, pressure safety design and environmental standards on all projects; Improve plant safety and enhance environmental performance; * Work with facilities and reliability engineers to get an insight into maintenance and reliability improvement programs in chemical plants; * Perform and check engineering calculations following standard methods and principles for projects; * May assist with the procurement process of equipment specifications, bid evaluation and contract administration; * Assist with conducting engineering cost, feasibility and planning studies analyzing customer needs and data including researching, investigation and coordination of other engineers, and providing recommendations to the customer; * Collaborate with technical staff on day-to-day activities such as process troubleshooting and problem solving; * Assist mechanical designers in producing the desired installation via computer aided drafting; Major Tasks (Manufacturing / Quality Focus): * Assist in the completion of Operational Excellence (OE) project(s) by analyzing order of operations and looking for improvements in time, costs, and/or quality compliance; * Work with all areas of operations and compliance organizations in order to drive attainment of project goals; * Develop working understanding of cGMP and application of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in all project outputs; * Collaborate with technical staff on day-to day activities Major Tasks (Supply Chain Management Focus): * Enhance Customer Service Level KPI for our customers; * Further enhance the product master data supply parameter setup process by systematically reviewing Minimum Order Quantities and recommending optimal replenishment parameters; * Involve in various project management duties with the aim to improve Customer Service Level, reduce working capital requirements and increase overall profitability within the Supply Chain Management department; * Support efforts to align customer minimum order quantities by reviewing the shipping and fulfillment expenses at the SKU level; * Support future product launch efforts by identifying optimal presentation formats, batch sizes and SKU counts; Major Tasks (HSE): * Ensure compliance with OSHA/EPA standards, plant safety standards, pressure safety design and environmental standards on all projects; Improve plant safety and enhance environmental performance; * Conduct exposure monitoring for chemicals, biologicals, noise, and non-ionizing radiation; * Assist with SDS management and GHS-labeling of containers; * Assist site with activities supporting ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 certification; * Collaborate with HSE staff on day-to-day activities such as process troubleshooting and problem solving. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: * Enrollment in a bachelor degree program with an emphasis in Chemical, Biochemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Environmental Engineering; Pharmacy, Microbiology or Chemistry; Industrial Hygiene; or Business Administration; * Completion of Sophomore or Junior year; * Ability to work 40 hours per week; * Minimum overall GPA of 3.0; * Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point); * Physically willing and able to climb stairs and ladders; * Willingness to work in a pharmaceutical environment. Preferred Skills/Education: * Strong written and verbal communication skills; * Prior experience in a pharmaceutical environment; * Students living arrangements must accommodate working in Shawnee, KS.
