Summary: The Buyer is responsible for purchasing all raw material, purchased parts and miscellaneous materials. They will help other department personnel to determine the most suitable product or service to meet their needs, considering the objectives of the entire organization. Supplier selection will be carefully considered through proper spend analysis, market analysis, quotations and negotiations. The Buyer is expected to negotiate the most favorable agreement possible and prepare the documentation for an agreement in accordance with all laws so that the agreement protects the organizations interest within the limitations of authority of the Buyer. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Identify world class suppliers for products and services consumed. Perform analysis to secure the best possible supplier agreements with the most favorable terms and conditions. * Negotiate cost reductions from both current and new suppliers, including service contracts. * Establish supplier development plans. * Assess current orders and forecast future demand in order to provide adequate supplies. * Review and approve purchase requisitions, place purchased orders with selected suppliers. * Assist with the receipt and acknowledgment of materials and supplies along with maintaining purchasing records. Verify invoice/P.O. discrepancies and resolve differences to authorize payment. * Communicate with internal departments to ensure smooth flow of materials to support on time shipments of dies and stampings to BSPs customers. * Work closely with sales and engineering to identify new sources needed to expand business growth. * Support Sales group in obtaining competitive pricing on components, sub-contractor, and raw material. * Visit suppliers to investigate facilities, capacity, and the ability to meet quality requirements, specifications, and delivery dates. * Work closely in supporting Quality Manager to ensure effective 8-D corrective actions are supplied timely to prevent repeat Quality concerns. * Operate within the functions of ISO/TS 16949. * Develop and maintain metrics reporting relating to purchasing/buying process. * Maintain all administrative duties related to the purchasing/buying process. * Other duties as assigned Education & Skills Required: * Supply Chain/Purchasing degree preferred. * Requires three to five years experience in the purchasing function in a high volume, manufacturing environment with a working knowledge and background in production control, material control and shipping and receiving. * Automotive and Steel industry knowledge is preferred.
