    PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

    The Production Supervisor role is responsible for directing and coordinating day-to-day shift activities, maintaining focus on safety, employee engagement, productivity, quality, and customer service. 

     

    KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Share in the obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork
    • Supervise 25 +/- production team members. 
    • Work collaboratively to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals.  
    • Support a culture of high employee engagement, listening and responding to employee issues, taking decisive actions, and recognizing excellent performance.
    • Support a culture of continuous improvement, waste reduction and optimal throughput.
    • Ensure maintenance of equipment and coordination of maintenance requirements to optimize equipment up-time.
    • Effectively communicate key issues (e.g. performance reviews, 1-on-1’s, safety meetings, overtime plans, monthly business results, etc.)
    • Evaluate job performance and recommends appropriate personnel action.
    • Understand and communicate policies and procedures.
    • Determine crewing needs, adjusting as necessary to achieve goals.

     

    Required Skills

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience working collaboratively with teams of people, including training, coaching, mentoring and counseling.
    • 2 years of leadership experience in a complex manufacturing environment.
    • Manufacturing Supervisor experience, preferred.
    • Manufacturing Supervisor experience in a Printing environment, highly preferred.

     

    EDUCATION / COMPARABLE WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree (Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Business Administration, or related field) strongly preferred; or, closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.

     

    KEY SKILLS:

    • Strong strategic, analytical problem-solving ability (TCC/Trouble Cause Correction)
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage people.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S or other discipline)
    • Strong computer skills with a focus on Microsoft office applications, QAD experience (preferred)
    • Ability to work independently, when needed, and to collaborate with other departments toward common goals.
    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation.

     

    TYPICAL SCHEDULE:

    • Typical Supervisor schedule consists of 12-hour day shift or 12-hour night shift – generally includes every other weekend off, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; including early mornings, nights, and/or off weekends.
