    Job Description

    This is for a 6-month full-time co-op from January to June 2021.

    Biogen is seeking a highly motivated engineering student to join the Process Engineering group at our RTP location.  The Process Engineering group supports all bioprocessing equipment, capital projects and processes for the RTP site.  The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

    • Capacity to work within a cGMP regulated environment,
    • Have an understanding of biotech processes and equipment,
    • Able to handle several projects simultaneously working both as part of a team and independently
    • Be able to coordinate and perform activities across several small projects concurrently,
    • Excellent organization and communication skills for collaboration with internal stakeholders.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This role will be primarily responsible for assisting Process Engineering with executing project deliverables, supporting manufacturing investigations, coordinating technical document reform, and other related activities. In addition, this position will offer the opportunity for involvement in a range of Engineering activities and understanding of bioprocessing unit operation, as well as hands-on experience to support Manufacturing process equipment and associated systems at the site.  

    The Co-op must be able to organize and work within multi-function teams to implement changes and improve on existing processes and provide updates to the team and management. The ability to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously and be able to prioritize these is also a requirement for this position.  

    The position will require a firm understanding of the importance of good data management practices.  The Co-op applicant should be proficient with common computer based systems and software including Microsoft Office products. This individual will be expected to learn how to interpret engineering documents (process and instrumentation diagrams and equipment specifications) as well as navigate multiple Biogen developed engineering support systems.

    To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

    EDUCATION

    • Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies prior to scheduled start date
    • Enrollment in a full-time engineering or biomanufacturing  undergraduate program
