    Job Description

    This is for a 12-week internship position from June - August 2021.

    Biogen is seeking a highly motivated summer intern to join the Analytical Development Gene Therapy Chemistry group in Cambridge, MA, to support the evaluation of a novel technology, Mass Photometry, as a tool for characterization of critical quality attributes of adeno-associated virus (AAV) products, such as empty-to-full capsid ratio and capsid titer. The intern will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a variety of orthogonal techniques, such as Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Analytical Ultra Centrifugation (AUC), and Ion-exchange chromatography. The intern will perform experiments under the guidance of their mentor, analyze data, and present results at project team and department meetings.

    Qualifications

    To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

    Additional qualifications:

    • Prior laboratory experience
    • The ideal candidate must be motivated to learn new technologies and be agile and self-driven

    EDUCATION

    Senior undergrad or Masters level; majors include analytical chemistry, biophysics, chemical engineering, biotechnology and related majors
