    Job Description

This scientist will work in our oligonucleotide development laboratory located adjacent to our GMP manufacturing site in RTP, North Carolina, as an integral member of the process development team located Cambridge, Massachusetts. The individual will conduct synthesis process development for oligonucleotide and their conjugates to support our end-to-end manufacturing of oligonucleotide drug candidates or drugs. He/she will also conduct laboratory experiments to explore novel chemistry ideas to improve the oligonucleotide synthesis process for superior consistency, productivity, and product purity.

    MAIN TASKS INCLUDE:

    1. Collaborate with manufacturing and development teams to design and conduct of laboratory experiments to optimize the manufacturing processes of oligonucleotides with an emphasis on understanding and improvement of the process robustness, control of process-related impurities, and increase of productivity.
    2. Communicate research results effectively by writing research reports and presenting data in team meetings.
    3. Engage in the development activities of Cambridge development team.
    4. Facilitate laboratory or production capability expansion.
    5. Perform synthetic process research and development of oligonucleotide drug candidates including conjugates and starting materials.
    6.  Additional responsibilities for Sr. Scientist include but not limited to providing chemistry perspectives to other teams in the antisense oligonucleotide organization engaged in the development and execution of our end-to-end manufacturing process; lead cross functional team process development efforts for oligonucleotide drug candidates; supervision of direct reports when needed.
