    Job Description

    _ About This Role_

    The commercial head of Asset Development and Portfolio Management (ADPM) is accountable for the end-to-end strategy from the Pharmaceutical Operations & Technology (PO&T) perspective of all commercial assets in all therapeutic areas including Multiple Sclerosis and Neuromuscular Diseases. The role will have direct oversight and management of several PO&T asset leaders responsible for leading cross-functional asset teams and will execute strategic imperatives to advance the commercial portfolio. This candidate has a strong background in late-stage development with a record of successfully launching medicines in all markets. Additional expertise includes global supply chain, manufacturing sciences, CMC regulatory and compliance. This position will be accountable for representing PO&T at the appropriate commercial (global and regional) governance bodies and will represent the assets at the global access mechanism governance to ensure availability of supply.

    This candidate will work closely with all functional leaders of PO&T including Global Supply Chain head, Global Manufacturing head, Quality head, and Biologics and Pharma heads to ascertain that we are always ready to supply the market while considering E&O. This role will also be accountable for life cycle management activities including COGs assessments. This leader monitors asset-related impacts on the P&L (e.g., COGS, E&O, OPEX) and collaborate with the PO&T Line Functions to develop tactics to improve them. Develops business cases for key asset initiatives and secures management endorsement.

    The commercial head of ADPM will elevate issues to the PO&T Governance Committee as appropriate and will be responsible for supply risk management. This role will represent PO&T at appropriate joint steering and joint manufacturing committees. Assets will transition to the head of commercial ADPM once products are launched in main markets.

    This is a hybrid role with flexibility to be based at our RTP, Cambridge, or Baar offices.

    _ What You’ll Do_

    • Identify risks and removes barriers in order to deliver on the portfolio ensuring timelines are met within budget.
    • Lead, coach and develop asset leaders and cross-functional teams to drive collaboration, integration and efficiencies across commercial program activities and functional departments.
    • Serve as the PO&T leader for commercial assets delivering the 5-year asset plans and works closely with Product Development and Commercialization (global) and regions with accountability to bringing the PO&T voice to the overall strategy and tactical plan.
    • Responsible for supply risk management
    • Represent PO&T at different Biogen governance including commercial forum (global and regional) and medical global access mechanisms.
    • Make decisions affecting change control strategy.
    • Set strategy for country launch waves and prioritization.
    • Approval of 5-year asset strategy plan.
    • Oversight of vendor selection and supply strategy
    • Make additions to asset workplans with significant time or financial impact

    _ Who You Are_

    You’re an experienced cross-functional leader with in-depth knowledge in drug development and commercialization. You are accomplished in setting and communicating strategy as well as setting/articulating a clear vision for tactical execution in order to deliver outstanding results.

    _ Requirements:_

    • Ph. D in the sciences field or MBA with demonstrable experience in commercial and global supply (Advanced degree with commensurate experience may be considered).
    • Minimum of 15 years of experience in drug development and supply chain.
    • Biotech or Pharma industry experience. Proven experience working cross-functionally.
    • Alliance management experience, preferably global; understanding of business contracts and management.
    • Experience with CMC, supply chain, or LCM development extending from IND to NDA/BLA, including a solid understanding of global registration processes. Technical expertise in a relevant biopharmaceutical development discipline.
    • Business acumen (i.e., business case development, budget tracking).
    • Experience in healthcare/biotech/pharmaceutical industry with a demonstrated understanding of cross-functional interdependencies (i.e., R&D, commercial, technical development, regulatory.
    • Excellent strategic, political, organizational, and relationship development skills.
