    Job Description

    _This position is a 6-month Co-op from January – June 2022 _

Biogen’s Product and Technology Development (PTD) organization engages in laboratory activities supporting the development and characterization of therapeutic products, manufacturing processes or new technologies.  We are seeking self-motivated scientists and engineers interested in supporting our mission in our gene therapy-cell line technologies group to contribute to ongoing efforts to develop and engineer viral vector production mammalian host cell systems.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

You will be a part of the cell line technologies team and gain experience in cell line engineering and cell line development in multiple AAV vector production host cell systems. You will also have opportunities to be exposed to other line functions such as upstream and downstream processing through collaborations and cross training.

Engineered cell lines will be the backbone of multiple efforts to increase AAV productivity and further understand how to drive product quality.  By the end of the Co-op, you will have hands-on experience in multiple industry leading AAV production technologies and contribute to critical raw materials (cell lines) for the production of AAV gene therapies.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

    • Passaging cultures, transfection experiments, and cell line engineering.
    • Traditional molecular and synthetic biology experiments, and high throughput automation experiments.
    • Data recording, interpretation and presentation for ongoing work in group meetings.
    • Generate material for upstream, downstream, analytical and research development activities while contributing to experiments for cell line engineering to improve system productivity and product quality.
