    Job Description

     

    ABOUT THIS ROLE

    The Occupational Health Manager develops and manages the Global Occupational Health Program at Biogen sites worldwide to ensure regulatory compliance and to promote a healthy workplace for all workers. In addition, this individual is responsible for implementing all elements of the Occupational Health Program at the NC and MA locations by providing occupational health services to maintain optimum levels of health, to minimize work-related injuries, illnesses and disabilities and to contain medical costs.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of Global Occupational Health management systems, policies and procedures for Biogen.
    • Develop and implement risk-based, proactive programs to prevent work related injuries and illnesses.
    • Identify existing and potential occupational health risks associated with Biogen operations through methods including OSHA Log and incident report reviews, case management, work area surveys, and medical surveillance and industrial hygiene data.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance with national and international occupational health and safety requirements.
    • Promote and develop industry best practices throughout Biogen sites
    • Define both short and long term Occupational Health goals and objectives. Successfully partners with internal client management and human resources to achieve defined objectives.
    • Develop written programs, policies and procedures for implementation at all Biogen sites, related to Occupational Health and Employee Wellness.
    • Partner with Human Resources to execute on key Wellness initiatives, including administration of annual influenza vaccinations, biometrics screenings, nutrition counseling and others.
    • Support Global ergonomics program to address risk in offices, labs and manufacturing settings.
    • Participates on Business Continuity Committee to help address emergency preparedness/response programs.
    • Partners with Legal and HR for matters related to workplace accommodations, ADA evaluations and return to work issues.
    • Oversees the Body Fluid Donor Program and Hemophilia Patient Donor Program at the Cambridge location.
    • Develop performance metrics related to Occupational Health
    • Directly supervises Occupational Health Staff in MA and NC.

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Registered Nurse (RN) required
    • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN-S) strongly desired
    • 8-10 years experience required, preferably with program management experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
    • Advanced interpersonal skills focused on providing professional patient/client service required
    • Strong team orientation with demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with others to achieve business objectives required
    • Ability to work independently and problem solve

    PREFERRED SKILLS

    • Experience supporting biopharma manufacturing operations a plus.
