    Job Description

    The tax department is an important part of Biogen’s finance organization.  Our team prepares corporate tax returns, works with corporate accounting on the preparation of the quarterly financial statements, and works on various business planning projects.   

    POSITION DESCRIPTION 

    The Tax Intern will assist the tax department in various tax functions as needed, primarily with US tax compliance and tax accounting, and will gain an understanding of the functions of a corporate tax group. The Tax Intern activities will include the following: 

    • Assist in the preparation of the Company’s federal and state income tax returns, including gathering data, preparing workpapers, and entering data into tax compliance software. 
    • Assist in the preparation of federal and state tax estimates  
    • Assist in the preparation of quarterly ASC740 workpapers 
    • Perform research of various tax related matters as needed 
    • Assist with other non-recurring compliance or planning projects as they arise.

    Qualifications

    To participate in the Biogen Intern Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 
    • Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred 
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

       

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and work on multiple projects 
    • Strong organization and communication skills 
    • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications  
    • Experience with ASC740 and corporate tax return preparation is helpful, but not required

     

    EDUCATION  Completion of junior year of bachelor’s degree program (accounting preferred) by start of internship 

    LOCATION  Cambridge, MA 

    Relocation is NOT offered for this position.
