    Job Description

    SUMMARY

    Working with the Biogen U.S. Public Policy and Government Affairs team, the Summer Associate will have an opportunity to meaningfully contribute to our federal legislative and regulatory efforts to support innovation and the patients we serve. The Summer Associate will get exposure to strategic planning and execution of various areas of federal policy in regard to both Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Detailed description of role including but not limited to:

    • Day to day responsibilities – provide reports on federal legislation, draft notes on regulatory policy, attend internal and external meetings, projects as assigned
    • End to end process description – at the end of the internship, you will have a better understanding of the role of U.S. Public Policy and how to strategically interact and influence external stakeholders (Congress, CMS, and other agencies) as well as external stakeholders (providers, think-tanks, etc)
    • Overview of specific project(s) – examples include working to increase information provided to business units on relevant actions in the Medicare space (both Medicare Part B and Part D), creating materials for updates/presentations on regulatory, legislative efforts. Work on biosimilars, gene therapy, coverage, coding, and reimbursement topics.

    To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

    EDUCATION Graduate Student preferred, must be currently enrolled (MBA, JD, or Master of Public Health)
