JOB DESRIPTION:
This is a strategic role, providing for the design and implementation of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability initiatives. Identifies trends in the external and internal environment, recognizes risks and opportunities and uses insights gained to formulate a comprehensive competitive strategy for the business relative to operational and reputational challenges and opportunities (e.g. emerging regulatory obligations, internal and external stakeholder expectations).
Effective interaction at all levels of the company (to include the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors) is expected.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
ENERGY: establishes and drives strategy integrating R&D and Technical Development Group
INTERNAL STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS – Implements “Green Teams,” leveraging in this manner employee passion for environmental matters. Runs a “Sustainability Speaker Series.”
FOSSIL FUEL MANAGEMENT: Outlines strategy. Helps develop electrification road maps and integrate into site master plans. Outlines ways to eliminate or reduce use of plastics across operations.
SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT: Helps implement supplier risk assessment process using relevant tools and engages key suppliers using the tool.
COLLABORATION: Responsible for driving internal and external discussions leading to improved environmental performance, and the perception of that performance.
2. PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP – Responsible for the implementation of the EHS+S aspects of raw materials, intermediates, and consumer products throughout their life cycle and across the supply chain in order to prevent or minimize negative impacts, maximize value, and ensure compliance with all legal and other requirements.
3. ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE - Oversees the compiling, updating, and analyzing of environmental programs (wastewater, air emissions, waste) and data to ensure proper compliance with government regulations and management of our environmental footprint.

The base compensation range for this role is 160,700 USD to 267.900 USD. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
