    Global Business Services and Business Optimization

    The Global Business Services (GBS) and Business Optimization team is a newly formed organization established to transform Biogen’s business processes with a vision of “Lean and Simple” operations to fuel commercial growth and the innovation pipeline.  GBS will provide value by developing and delivering a suite of business solutions and support services that are valued by internal business partners.   GBS will deliver services by leveraging a global delivery model, operational transparency and metrics, leveraging global best practices, and a service-oriented process improvement culture.   All solutions will be supported by strong business cases and ultimately monitored for the effectiveness and efficiency against benchmarks and service level agreements.

    THE POSITION

     

    The Global Process Owner and Delivery Leader is a highly collaborative role providing leadership of global processes and driving consistency of global business and maximizing operational efficiency to optimize business impact. This person provides thought leadership, develops and translates strategy into operational goals and objectives for their process area, identifies gaps and issues that prohibit efficient, effective, and compliant business processes, drives solutions for evolving business requirements, prioritizes process improvements and project prioritization, remedies process deficiencies and champions investments to optimize the process area delivering high customer satisfaction and business impact.

     

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    ·        Establishes and communicates a clear vision for the Procure to Pay and Record to Report end to end process areas in conjuction with the Leader of GBS, Chief Accounting and Chief Procurement Officers

    ·        Develops and translates strategy into a multi-year road map including operational goals and objectives. Anticipates needs,  identifies necessary resources (people and capital); assesses and prioritize opportunities against business objectives, manages risk and determines creative means to implement new & innovative technical & process solutions

    ·        Works with stakeholders to identify process and policy improvement opportunities and champions a culture of continuous improvement.  Collaborates with CI Function to prioritize and execute CI projects

    ·        Manages client service requests, issues and resolution

    ·        Reviews and analyzes new service requests related to end to end process areas

    ·        Ensures plans for acquisitions and/or divestitures

    ·        Ensures process specific agreed upon Service Level Agreements ("SLAs) are adhered to and engages in root cause analysis of performance issues when they arise.  Continually revisits SLAs to ensure proper components are being measured.

    ·        Develops and manages process governance model for individual process(es) inconjuction with stakeholders including service delivery teams and process customers.

    ·        Oversees operational reviews of global process in conjunciton with regional service delivery teams and customers

    ·        Builds and maintains relationships throughout the organization

    ·        Creates a high-performance, a customer-centric culture throughout the organization, continuously monitors the needs of the customer

    ·        Ensures process area supports compliance goals; reports status of control environment

    ·        Participates in the Global Business Services governance management boards to focus on different levels of Global Business Services detail regarding scope, service delivery & operational issues

    ·        Works in conjunction with the Global Business Services Operations team to develop and operate any applicable reporting and analytics to measure the efficacy and efficiency of their process

    ·        Monitors financial aspects of relevant processes, where applicable.

    ·        Owns day to day delivery of US based Accounts Payable operations, Global Travel and Expense Administration and US Sponsorships functions

    THE CANDIDATE PROFILE

    The ideal candidate will be a charismatic, collaborative leader who can articulate a vision, set direction and engage and motivate others to achieve outstanding results. This individual must be able to engage and influence other functions and key stakeholders in a collaborative manner to achieve the required outcomes. S/He must combine a strong strategic focus with natural analytical skills and project execution capability that has been acquired and developed in a complex, international environment.

     

    NECESSARY EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

    ·        12 years' demonstrated success across Procure to Pay, GBS and 8-10 years' working in complex accounting roles.

    ·        Must be sensitive to and can manage cross culturally. Ability to manage conflict and pressure by effectively facilitating healthy interaction, discourse and decision making that builds consensus and alignment.

    ·        Strong Shared Services/GBS background including service delivery, process optimization, service placement, and service infrastructure

    ·        Proven ability to see a vision and gain alignment across the organization with exceptional impacting and influencing skills.

    ·        CPA and/or Chartered Accountant a must; An advanced degree (MBA) is highly preferred.

    ·        Must possess outstanding communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with enterprise-wide information systems.

    ·        Strong experience and expertise with change management.

    ·        Empathy – able to carry the tough messages with dignity, class and understanding of potential impact on others.

    ·        Strategic thinker and visionary with an equal passion to implement and execute.

    ·        High level of business acumen.

    ·        Must demonstrate a passion for, and proven success in, driving continuous process improvement. Lean and Six Sigma training and/or certification is a decided plus.

    ·        Demonstrates strategic enterprise thinking, finding innovative ways to serve patients, and build trust, reputation and business.

    ·        Creates the environment that inspires and enables people to collaborate and move the organization forward.

    ·        Focuses on the few priorities and delivers superior results.

    EDUCATION

    ·        University/bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance business administration.
