    Job Description

    About This Role

In Biogen’s Translational Sciences group, we leverage cutting-edge data and insights from human genetics and genomics, multi-omics, disease biology, and real-world patient and population cohorts to identify, validate, and prioritize novel drug targets, and to advance pipeline programs towards clinical development up until regulatory approval. For this, we closely collaborate with data scientists, biologists and clinical experts at Biogen as well as externally to impact decision-making at all stages of the drug discovery and development process.

We seek a highly collaborative individual with strong communication skills to join Biogen’s Human Genetics group. This individual is responsible for the management and oversight of the datasets utilized in the Human Genetics team to help provide the business with high-quality data that is easily accessible in a consistent manner. This individual should have experience in the genomic datasets commonly assessed for genetic analysis and bioinformatics applications.

Biogen has made substantial investments into generating genetic and omics data from population-scale human research cohorts as well as participants of our clinical trials. The position will focus on applying for and managing public and proprietary datasets, data harmonization, data provenance, data access, data updates, etc. to enhance our genetic and omics data resources.

What You’ll Do You will work independently and creatively in a cross-disciplinary environment to:

    • Apply for publicly available bioinformatics/genomics data access
    • Data organization and harmonization of public, privileged and proprietary datasets with reproducible data wrangling pipelines, so they can be readily applied in our analytical pipelines
    • Inventory and document existing datasets, including removal or archive redundant or older datasets
    • Ensure compliance of data usage and work with the group to submit progress reports to the data providers (if needed)
    • Keeping track of data access from Biogen data consumers
    • Communicate and summarize updates of genomics data to Biogen data consumers
    • Attend and contribute to Research-wide IT initiatives and bring back learnings to the group
    • Opportunities to collaborate in scientific projects (with external presentations and publications)

Who You Are You have an IT/computational background with familiarity with bioinformatics/ genomics datasets and human genetics research. You are interested in applying your technical skill sets to help to drive drug discovery.
