    This is for a 12-week internship position from June – August 2020

    SUMMARY

    Global Trade Compliance ensures Biogen efficiently moves its products, software, and technology across borders in compliance with government regulations. Biogen key elements of Pioneering to make change, and Accountability to drive results are evident in this department.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Trade Compliance’s focus is making sure import and export activities are compliant, predictable, and cost effective to meet both Biogen’s and the governments needs. It is a highly collaborative and fast paced environment, which will really give an insight into life sciences with a highly practical working education on international trade.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Audit transactions related to import/export; following up with any corrective actions
    • Reporting from customs website to identify opportunities
    • Learn (or exposure to, depending on experience level) Trade Compliance Regulations from various Agencies, of Regulations relating to Compliance import/export, and Gain and use Familiarity with Harmonized tariff codes
    • Metrics related to global customs brokers
    • Shipment related documentation and filings
    • Participate/collaborate at Council meetings
    • Support for Global Trade Compliance corrective actions
    • Support trade compliance team with various administrative duties, such as data maintenance, meeting coordination, preparation of reports and data analysis etc.
    • Assist with the implementation of Global Trade Compliance program at the US site
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • Grade point average of 3.2 or higher preferred
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
    • Experience with Microsoft products is required (Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Visio, Project, and Word
    • Familiar with principles of supply chain
